Source: Law enforcers detain Former CEO of TransFin-M

MOSCOW, Jun 11 (PRIME) – The law enforcement authorities have detained Dmitry Zotov, former CEO of Russian leasing company TransFin-M, under several criminal cases connected to a 3 billion ruble theft of railcars from the company and forging of documents, a source familiar with the matter told PRIME on Thursday.

“Zotov was detained in the framework of several criminal cases connected to a theft of cargo railcars from TransFin-M and to forging of documents. The illegal activity lasted for a long time when pension fund Blagosostoyanie was the owner of TransFin-M. The total value of the stolen property stands at about 3 billion rubles,” the source said.

The authorities launched the cases in August 2019. “Until now Zotov has been hiding from the law enforcers, supposedly in Europe. Yesterday, he landed in the Sheremetyevo airport on board of a private plane, and after that he was detained and brought to the investigative authorities for an interrogation,” the source said.

The investigative authorities are yet to provide a comment.

The board of directors of TransFin-M terminated Zotov’s powers in November 2018. Blagosostoyanie sold 100% in the leasing company for 32.6 billion rubles to TFM-Garant,  a company owned by Alexei Taicher, former aide to the CEO of Russian Railways, in November 2019.
